Airport checks
Airport security is undoubtedly an evolving concept, especially given the latest health developments. However, some procedures, even under normal circumstances, require stringent controls and coordination to ensure compliance. Therefore, adopting products designed and developed to protect passengers is essential.
Starting from the main entrance of an airport, an area often connected to the check-in area, one is reminded of the importance of ensuring a secure and controlled entrance in such a crowded area. Saima offers the Glass Roll Rev 2000, a combination of glass and steel that gives this revolving door a unique elegance combined with the highest security standards of interlocking doors.
Equally important is the control of one-way passenger flows, such as access areas to free zones. For this type of circulation, Saima has developed the Exit Lane Corridor, a corridor specifically designed for one-way passenger flows, allowing a large number of people with personal belongings to pass through. The Exit Lane Corridor is modular and adaptable to any environment and space, and its sensors can detect unwanted objects within the area.
One of the key allies of airport security is Saima’s Swing Gate 376, an access control system composed of two or more gates with swing doors. Thanks to its integrated reader, it can read paper or digital boarding passes. Its functionality and practicality are complemented by an elegant and tasteful aesthetic.
The Swing Gate 376’s siblings are the Swing Gate 285 and Swing Gate 330, both more streamlined and lightweight than the previous model, with a clean, streamlined design. Document control at the airport
One of the key moments in airport security checks is undoubtedly passport control. Every airport requires innovative technology, increasingly widespread especially at major international hubs, that allows for fully automated passport control procedures. ABC Gate is Saima’s interlocking system that guarantees the highest levels of security during checks, as well as reducing passenger waiting times, improving the overall quality of the travel experience. ABC Gate, along with its sister model V2, are systems for checking passports and biometric data, including both fingerprints and facial recognition. It is also equipped with traffic lights for correct passenger routing and visual indicators.
Security Checks at JFK Airport: Our Experience
One of the experiences that took Saima further was the installation of two of our products at JFK Airport in New York.
The items have been designed and programmed to meet the airport’s maximum security protocols, to improve performance and raise standards.
The Exit Lane Corridor, installed at JFK, was configured and adapted to the installation site to maximize its potential. The large number of sensors allows for the detection of abandoned objects within the area, but also, and more importantly, the counterflow of people, blocking the doors and thus allowing airport security personnel to intervene.
Alongside the triple Exit Lane Corridor installation, the GateBox EL model was installed, specifically designed for the type of service required.
This installation is entirely dedicated to personnel passage and features Saima-patented microwave technology, which allows for volume reading and therefore complies with the strictest safety protocols.
